What am I doing wrong? FPP I’m ZCCP?

Total newbie. I've got an f16v4. I can get it to output properly in player mode. All configured via xlights with ZCCP. 

I have a Pi FPP. I can get it to output to the f16v4 in e131, but the timing and colors are off. Both devices are in e131. 

For example. In player mode I can run a candy cane effect around the house and it's just red and white as it should be. I do the same in the e-41 with pi fpp as the main and it runs but it's a mix of four or five colors. 

I can't get any output with both devices in ZCCP. 

What am I doing wrong?

FPP does not support ZCCP.  Use DDP or e1.131.

Am I right in assuming DDP is slightly easier to configure?
