ThreeSizes

It's the original model B, not the newer B+ or Pi 2.

Hummm...... who was buying them by the pallet and selling them to us?

My Master Pi is still a model B.  Works fine to run audio out (USB soundcard) and tell the other Pis/BBBs what to do (I have 6 total).

This is just my opinion/suggestion/viewpoint.  Others with other viewpoints/experiences may have different advice.  I am a hobbyist with a couple years real world experience, not an expert.

Yes, this model B can be a work horse but any new RasPi units will probably be the newer model or the Zero.

My RPi B has been through a lot and keeps on ticking. They are perfect for driving the Falcon FPD if you have a lot of Pixelnet or DMX

Jon--that is my plan this year--will be using multiple RPI's to drive three E682s for the close-together stuff (megatrees) plus one FPD & Corey's microcontrollers for the spread-out stuff.  I haven't started learning how to use the RPI yet though.   Gotta get going on that...

I'm thinking you need a hub to connect the uSC.  If you are talking about the uAmp that is a different story.  You just stated microcontroller and I did not see a reference to a hub.

You can run uSSC if you do power injection at little controller and daisy chain the data line. The hub sure is convenient, though.
