800 Pixel Matrix and E682

I am trying to setup a 800 WS2811 Pixel matrix(40w x 20h)


I have all 800 pixels on one output, and when i run the test pattern on the e682 interface all pixels light perfectly. When i try to run an animation in xlights either the colors are random, or they flicker.


Is there something in xlights that i am not configuring properly or missing?


before this i was using an Arduino Mega to run all of the pixels via Geldiator and Vixen, and they all did light with no issues, so i know it's not a pixel or power supply issue.


Also should i be powering the pixels via the E682 or should i just bypass the power connector, and only use the ground and signal?

Can you post screen shots of your setup for the E682 and xlight's.

You noted that all 800 pixels are on just one output but in your model setup your using 20 strings  with 40 pixels per string. I think this should be 1 string with 800 pixels. Will the E682 run that many pixels off one output? Been a while since I read the manual.

i have it set that way since it's in a grid. i also have it set in the E682 interface to zigzag ever 40 pixels

I would try setting xlight's to 1 string,  800 pixels and set strands to 40. Take the zigzag out of the controller and let xlight's handle it. That's how I've had the best results for my 2400 pixel matrix.

just did did that, and even by doing that they aren't lighting correctly

If I remember right the E682 uses 510 for the universe size. Looks like at the end of each universe it's changing color.

changing it to 510 fixed the colors issues


last problem is flickering, seems as if it's a voltage issue


if i have the entire board lit i need around 6 volts, and if i only have a few lit i need to drop it to around 5.


i'm guessing i need to inject power more than every 200 pixels as i have a 60 amp power supply which should have no issue powering these

I use 12v and inject approximately every 100.  I think I've read that most using 5v are injecting power  every 50 to 75. Maybe someone familiar with 5v can chime in.

Could u use the dimming curves in xlights and reduce it down from 100% and save some of the power?

That did help. flickering is just about gone unless i have lots of white color running
