Where does GENERIC SERIAL physically come out of the PI? I tried all four of the usb-a ports via my printer cable to Arduino Usb input. I am confused because it seems there is a difference between Usb, ttl serial, hardware serial, and software serial. I am currently using Vixen2 serial output with a header of "!", thru my printer cable to Arduino Mega. this works ok for my table top test. When I move out to the yard, my boxes will be 25 ft apart. I am planning to use RS485 bus. (hence my confusion of serial types). my FPP is Ver 1.9.

I got I going. Seems like Arduino needs to be plugged in and powered up before Raspberry Pi. Then Pi can find it.
