µSC Progress and Projected Timeline for Co-op / Delivery (Updated 6/4/14)

All of the controllers (e682, j1sys, falcon-16) send data to the lights as a zero to 5v signal. The maximum distance to your first light is 10-30'. A ssc or usc sends data as -12v to +12v. This 24v signal can go 100-300' to the first light. I think the j1sys board has an option to change the 5v signal into the 24v signal for $20 per string. This new usc sets some new ground. No other receiver is this small, this full featured, this tested. I look forward to them. I love the micro reed option. Now I am in the back yard assembling my arches, hold a magnet near the usc and a test pattern starts.

Yes - as detailed in the demo video. 

Dave informs me we shouldn't have to cycle power to enter test mode, so I will work on that and see what I can come up with.

+1 on figuring that out.  Be so nice to plug them in, put the magnet close, know they have power and the lights work and move one, then it's just a config issue for channels if they are not working!

For the Falcon boards is there a reed switch small enough to replace the 2 pin header?

Like vertical or something?

Dave would know better on all the spacing, but the closest fit may be something like a Littlefuse model 59165-1-U-00-A.  If it's the standard .100" pitch header, you would probably have to bend one lead of the reed switch around and mount it vertically in the space... much like you'd mount a vertical resistor.  But the body of this switch is only 0.095" square, so it would fit the .100" hole spacing fine.

Downside is, these are a bit pricey at ~$1.92 each and dropping to $1.10 ea at quantities of 100.
