Hi all,

Noob here and trying to figure out how many and what spacing of pixels I need to order. Here are two of my props that I would appreciate feedback on:

1) Mini trees - 4' tall, 270 degree coverage. These trees will be about 10' from the sidewalk so thinking 2" spacing. How many pixels? I calculated 12 strings with 24 nodes per string totaling 288 per tree. With 8 mini-trees the math says I need 2,304 pixels. Somehow it does not feel right to me. Is my math correct?

2) Mega tree - 10' tall, 270 degree coverage. This tree will be about 20' from the street so 3" spacing maybe ok. I calculated 18 strings with 60 nodes per string. This math works out to be 1,080 pixels. Again, correct or ?

If there is a better way please edumacate me.

My gut feel says that 18 strands on 10-foot 270-degree tree is not enough strands.  But that's a personal choice.  May be fine for you.

This online calculator is really handy and has a cool visualizer that helps you get an idea what it may actually look like

I currently have 18 strands on an 18ft tall tree in a 180 and 24 strands on an 18ft tall 270.  I will be going to 24 strands on both trees in the coming year and both will be 270.  Ive also done 20 strands on a 9ft tree in a 270 two years ago and it looked great.  All my trees use 3" spacing.

My gut feel is that 2" spacing on the mini trees will be way too bright and not needed.  I have 16 Boscoyo med mini trees with 50 nodes in the tree and 10 in the star.  They also look fine.  In my side yard I have 4 Boscoyo large mini trees with 85 nodes in the tree and 15 in the star.  My minis are only 180s, but they look good.  I would definitely skinny down the minis and had more to the mega.

I had 16 strands on my 16' 270 mega tree this last year at 2" spacing, it was not not enough. It looks fine from a distance (a city block away), but not real good at 50' or less. I'm going to at least 24 if not 32 for this year.

I re-measured the distance from my mega tree to the sidewalk and it's only 40 feet. Based on that, I will increased the number of strings to 32 and the spacing to 3". Thanks for the feedback
