I have a pi4 which I updated to v6. I had access to it for a while. I downloaded my sequences to it. I was unable to get a test mode to work. I found a a block that said it needed an upgrade. I have been unable to do anything with fpp. I reflashed the sd card and now it wants a login info which I do not know or did i not put in anything. It seems to me that an already difficult thing was made more difficult. now I cannot even access fpp.

CharlieOhio

well, after 3 reflash of the sd card, two failed attempts to access fpp. unable to get the wifi to connect, I think I'm done trying to get ffp to work. The upgrade from my standpoint was not good, the fpp was working now its not, and I'm out of ideas. Any one want a pi4?

Do not give up.  Just take a break.  Then watch this video.

I run twelve RPP remotes plus the master and usually have a couple of spares ready to go.  Once you get thru the first install it will be much easier.

Are you sure you want to get rid of it? I am sure it is something minor you are missing... Jim Nealand posted a video that might help. I am fairly confident if you follow the video step by step and don't leave anything out, you will be up and running, but in the meantime....

Explain how you were trying to access it, there are dozens of ways. And explain exactly how you have it connected to things...Ethernet cable? To where?

Again, how were you trying to connect to it? Details here would be helpful!

There are a few things here, what version were you on before you did the upgrade and how did you do the upgrade process? There are several ways to do this as well.

Where is this log in you are talking about? Please post a screenshot. Do you have it connected to a monitor?

If it was difficult, then you probably did something wrong? We all make mistakes but with the help here, we can get you up and running in no time!

I will try to answer the questions. First I connected by ethernet cable thru my home router. The old version was v5.5 I think. I seen a popup that said I would need to reflash the sd card to v6. That is what I did, then trouble followed. I'm not sure what occured the first time but I lost all commination with fpp, I did something wrong but I don't know what. The 2nd reflash I checked the box on the first page about a password, I got a pop up that wanted a login and a password which I had no idea what it was. I tried several ideas
no success. 3 rd reflash I got into fpp, entered my wifi info and IP address. I could log in on my phone so I changed the wired ip address changed to my show computer to finish, I lost both the wifi access and wired access. Thats when I quit. I worked on it for about 5 hours to have nothing. I used the pi some last year but it quit working so I reverted back to my show computer. It is probably my lack of ability to figure this out. I think I will just stay using my show computer with xschdeule.

The version here could matter, there was a bug in one of the 5.5 versions that would cause a problem in the upgrade process.

Quote from: CharlieOhio on March 31, 2023, 06:38:42 PMI seen a popup that said I would need to reflash the sd card to v6.
That pop up doesn't exist in FPP. It might have said that FPP 6 was available?

So you were able to get into the FPP, good start...but randomly checking boxes that you do not know what they are for is a BAD idea and can in some cases lock you out of your FPP.... The correct settings are in the Video that Jim sent you and in the FPP Manual https://falconchristmas.github.io/FPP_Manual(6.0).pdf

Are you sure you entered the correct IP address?

Did you set them to be on the same subnet?

Quote from: CharlieOhio on March 31, 2023, 06:38:42 PMThats when I quit. I worked on it for about 5 hours to have nothing.
Spending 5 hours can be frustrating but setting up FPP should only take about 45 minutes (10-15 if you know what you are doing) It sounds like you might need to get a little better understanding of networking as this can cause you some major grief if you don't configure things correctly. Just off by one number could make it un-reachable. Here is a good video about networking.

Did you watch the Video that Jim posted? Did you follow it?
There are a TON of resources out there to help you out and probably the best resource is the Zoom Room. There are people in the 24/7 that can walk you through step by step and explain the process along the way..
Here is a link that explains how the zoom room works.

Don't give up, just use the resources and don't try things blindly, we will get you through it!

Just to let everyone know that I got my fpp to work, but it was not easy. I got on zoom and we worked for almost 30 minutes, 2 people. There is a little drop down that I didn't see and the guys on zoom didn't see it either. Bottom line its working now, and I need to upload the sequences and set the schedules. I have plenty of time. Thanks to all. Charlie J.

Can you tell us what that drop down was so that others will know?

Hi,
I compiled FPP on virtual machine bulseye debian 11 64bit
..setup script passed good. and i have web GUI up and running v7
Problem is that i don't have pixel input or output working, it is somehow blind.
and i see that is missing whole network setup menu.
did i missed some prerequisite for bulseye11 or is it supported on
this OS ? At this point as already compiled an running, it doesn't
seams that missing lot for full functionality but something is missing...

any hint on it ?

By default when installing onto Debian, it assumes that you want to keep the existing debian setup.   It becomes an add on onto the running system instead of a full "image" like on the Pi/BBB.   Thus, the existing utilities are used to manage networking.   If you want the FPP_Install.sh to fully take over the system like on the Pi/BBB, you need to pass the --img flag to the install script at which point it will uninstall a bunch of things we don't need and fully flip over to FPP managing that stuff.
