Hello,

Struggling to figure out what appears to be a unique error in my FPP instance. I was attempting to transfer my configuration between devices however, my current production instance has no backups and I am unable to trigger a new backup. Clicking the Download Configuration button brings up an http Error 500 warning.

It is highly likely when I set up this instance several years ago that I missed a step or did something incorrectly but would appreciate any guidance on how to resolve this issue so I can move my production instance to a new machine without starting from scratch. Thank you

Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

It is working fine for me. That could be a browser issue or a firewall issue.

Here is a snapshot from the new instance with backup working right out of the gate. It appears my production instance has never been performing the backup task nor can I trigger it to do so.

Sometimes you just need to install a fresh brand new FPP OS image and restore.  I would grab a different SD card, install a fresh image, and restore from backup if you can.  Set the original SD card to the side for now until it is running well on the new one.

Thanks, it seems I will have to rebuild from scratch since the backup feature wasn't working and therefore nothing usable to restore from. I was hoping there was a way to fix just the backup module on the old system so I can restore to the new system.

You could try an fppos upgrade to 8.5.1. You do know that your two devices are NOT on the same version?

You might try using the "File Copy Backup" option on the next tab over.  I have never used it, but but might help.  As @Poporacer suggested, you might be able to install an upgrade over the top, but it could be a SD card going bad.  I would take a few print screens of the configuration before you tried to upgrade in case something went south.

Did anyone see that the original post showed they were trying to (or choose) an SDA1 flash drive?

Thanks everyone, I am just going to rebuild from scratch. Was just trying to make it easy while converting to run in a Proxmox instance and ditching the Pi.

All my USB drives are SDA1.  What's your point.  And Samsung Fits are nice little nano flash USB drives.

I was too late looking at this, Sorry! you've probably rebuilt already but if you change the "Copy backups to alternative location" setting to None you would have been able to generate a backup. I found a small bug last night that was introduced in 8.5-8.5.1 that broke backups if you used this option.

I rebuilt on a VM to try and ditch all the random Pi's I have, I can still attempt what you suggest to transfer to the VM, it is still sitting as a stock install and the Pi is turned off. Will let you know if this works, thank you.

It's possible my issue was being caused by something else. My FPP instance on the Pi is stuck in an endless Initial Setup loop. Good thing I was already set mentally on starting from scratch on the new instance. Maybe the memory card got corrupt?
