12" x 3" red letter only sign....hmm...don't know the answer to your question but you could get a full color(rgb) P10 panel (12" x 6") for a lot less ($11.50) and it will run off FPP.

That looks like the panel that Dirk was playing with recently.

That display is not supported by FPP.  I probably wouldn't bother with it unless there is an existing library to support it.  It is single-color, less than half the size of a P10 panel, and for the same price plus shipping you could get at least 2 P10 panels.  The 12"x3" display isn't going to be readable from very far either.

You will also need a BeagleBone Black or Green running FPP and an Octosctroller cape to drive the P10 panel.

I do have a Raspberry PI B+ extra, I can set it up as a slave? I'll probably need step by step instructions when the time comes.
