Si4713/Vast V-FMT212R - FPP 9.3-3 Skipping Music Sequences

Running xLights 2025.11 and FPP on a Kulp Player Pi4 with SSD connected to a VASTINT-FMT212R. I noticed this sporadically when I updated to 9 in October for Halloween show. But the show would run as normal and then after a while it would run the tune-in animation (no audio) then it would play like 1 second of the beginning of each sequence before looping back to the beginning of the playlist to play the first tune in animation. Rebooting and sometimes restarting FPPD would see to take care of it, but only for one playlist playthrough. I started by updating and then again making sure my plugins are current. I am running Remote Falcon, FPP Remote Monitoring and the Si4173/Vast V-FMT212R. I checked error messages and was receiving the following in my syslog:

Looking at lsusb I found that this was pointing at my VAST FM transmitter:

As a result I went through downloaded my MP3s from the FPP and opened them in audacity and verified they were all CBR 192 kbps and that they were stereo 44.1kHZ sampling rate then re exported and uploaded into FPP. I then also renamed them and removed spaces. This seemed like it helped at times, but I was still consistently having issues with it. This started a few days before Halloween after applying an update to my FPP and my K16 controllers. I also changed the plugin settings for the VAST FM plugin to put the Plugin settings back to FPPD Start and then to stop Never. So far I can't get it to consistently play for more than 1 or 2 times. Any input is welcome and if I am posting in the wrong area please let me know where to post.

Updated to 2025.13 xLights. Saved again and reuploaded manually fseq files. Still had issue. Removed plugins still had same issue. I do have multiple Kulp Controllers running multisync if that is part of the issue. I downgraded my player to 9.2 and that seems to have resolved things. So it appears not to be an issue with the plugin but potentially with 9.3-3. I will keep my main player running 9.2 until I see an update or it gets resolved.

Updated to 9.4 to see if the problem where it would start playing a sequence seem to stall and then cycle through until getting back to my non musical tune in sequence. It had the same behavior first play through it works fine playing sequences and audio normally. After running through once then repeating it then only plays the animations and skips any musical sequences. It outputs the first little bit showing a static light image and cycles through I assume early frame(s) until it gets back to the animation which it then plays normally. Again rebooting is what corrects this but for the first initial playthrough.  I am downgrading again and have attached my logs set at debug level if it will be of use to anyone. Also to note my initial post was incorrect I had to downgrade to 9.1 to fix the problem and have done so again.

Not a FPP internals guy but there is some funky (not groovy  ) stuff in some of the logs. Probably create an issue on FPP Github and see if a dev can take a look.

Are the two everyday schedules disabled? So you just have the 16-22 on weekends and sunset to 21 on the rest?

The only  two schedules enabled are for Fri / Sat and Sun - Thurs. They are both enabled to allow for a later end time on weekends. I have a neighbor that wanted a earlier shutdown time on school / work nights. I had changed the Fri/Sat schedule to 16:00 to do testing on December 13th to see if 9.4 update fixed things up for me. I normally do a sunset + 10 minutes in that regard for start times on both. In terms of when the problem occurred it would be around 16:20-16:40 time frame for December 13 MST. I was out of town when testing it remotely and decided to update my post while I was at it. Currently running a playlist that is 15:17 minutes and the problem doesn't manifest until it runs through cleanly at first then going into the repeat via scheduler. Please see attachment. I tried to pull logfiles that had modification time stamps for December 13th with debug turned on to try to help with passing information onto folks.

In terms of where to go from here? Should I post to issues on Github or add additional information here? I am not overly familiar with the source / internals of fpp but I am comfortable with Linux and most troubleshooting and will be happy to get whatever information you guys feel is needed to solve this. Thanks for taking a look at it.

Looking at the code for that above via Github

It looks like it is kicking it out since the thread isn't exiting. I am not sure if this is related to my mp3 or if for some reason something in my setup causes the 9.2+ to break its output thread when musical sequences are involved. Again it will output my tune in sequence which is just an animation with no audio hence why I think the MP3s / media output is part of the problem here.
