We took 18" white PEX, drilled 12mm holes an inch apart and hammered the remaining end (about 6" worth) into the ground. We took a 100 ct strand and cut into into 10's and wired them all together with about 3' worth of wire so they are 2' apart in the ground. Works wonderfully!

Falcon Player (FPP) / Forbidden Error Port 80
Last post by greenfamilywp - January 11, 2026, 09:00:40 AM
All was working fine and then randomly last night we are seeing this error when opening the fpp website (which we've done a thousand times):

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access this resource.

Apache Server at fpp.local Port 80

I've read as much as I can and I still can't figure out what happened and how to correct it. There was only one thing on port 80 and it has been disabled. This error shows up on all our devices when trying to access the site! Any help is appreciated!!! We've still got our show up and want to keep it playing! 😀
Thank you!

Falcon Player (FPP) / Re: Analog input
Last post by MikeKrebs - January 10, 2026, 10:28:19 PM
That's a cool idea. I don't think FPP itself will help with either part.

On the first part, you could GPIO it within FPP and make it do stuff on command. But not quite the same as having full control like with a knob or slider or encoder.

The second part is much harder to do adhoc. I don't think FPP can play a sequence at a faster or slower rate. FSEQ and FPP work in sync to keep things in sync. Something you might do is if there are limited selections, you could trigger different sequences to play on different inputs. But not really the full range of control you envision.

Quoteworking with timing tracks can be a real pain in the butt.
How is it a pain in the butt? You right-click and add timing track.
I didn't say add, I said work with, not the same thing.

This is not needed when using a Timing Track Trigger

You forgot that you need to configure the control channel and make sure that the control channel doesn't change if you add/delete move props around.
It only has to be done once in the layout section and takes less than a minute.  Then it can be used in every sequence both new and edited from that point on.  I didn't forget the need to configure the control channel but you are correct, I should have mentioned that.

How is this any different than adding a timing track.  Pretty much the same thing.

QuoteYou need to create a timing block for each time you want the preset to trigger which can be a bit of a pain and then enter the EXACT preset name into the block for each one.
That isn't that hard really.

Maybe not for you but I had a real issue with timing tracks last month and in November.  I was making a lot of changes to timing tracks I was using for singing faces which was causing XLights to crash over and over to the point that I needed to save constantly to limit the amount of work I would lose.  I'm not saying that everyone would have these issues but it happened to me so I tend to stay away from them when I have other methods.

QuoteIf I want multiple trigger points, I simply cut and past the first one I created everywhere else I want it to run.

But if you find it easier, then that is the best way for you.
On this we can fully agree.

Falcon Player (FPP) / Re: DPIPixels-24 lock gpio inp...
Last post by CaptainMurdoch - January 09, 2026, 03:17:06 PM
I assume you are on the latest code or fairly recent.  It looks like the patch that went in in October needs to check to see which pins are actually in use, not just which ones are defined in the channel output config file.  The backend DPIPixels code only enables the gpio pins it needs which would allow you to use the other pins for input, this is a UI issue.  I brought it up on our chat so we can see what kind of solution we can come up with.

Falcon Player (FPP) / DPIPixels-24 lock gpio inputs
Last post by pneus - January 09, 2026, 02:18:13 PM
Hi, can anyone help me, I installed DPIPixels-24 for 8 channels on raspberry pi but all gpio Inputs say "Cape Controlled" "GPIO pin reserved by cape configuration", I need some GPIO inputs, how can I solve it? Why are they all used if I have an 8 channel license? Thanks in advance.

And you can do the same in a timing track

Is it really?  I don't think it's all that much easier because working with timing tracks can be a real pain in the butt.  You create a new timing track in the sequence, I create a single channel prop and add it to the sequence.  You need to create a timing block for each time you want the preset to trigger which can be a bit of a pain and then enter the EXACT preset name into the block for each one.  I simply put a tiny "ON" command with its brightness set to the trigger value i have set to trigger my preset.  If I want multiple trigger points, I simply cut and past the first one I created everywhere else I want it to run.  Seems as easy if not easier than messing around with timing tracks.  The only added work is creating the object and giving it a fixed address but that only needs to be done once and then you can include it in every sequence you want to run that preset after that.

Quote from: tbone321 on January 07, 2026, 09:24:42 PMYou go into the channel outputs page from the channel inputs/outputs section in FPP, then select other from the buttons at the top.  Select add and in the type select control channel.  From there, you pick a channel that you want to use as a trigger, the specific value to trigger the command, and the command preset that you want to trigger.
It is actually MUCH easier using the FPP Command timing track!
