Can you start an effect and make it repeat with MQTT topic?

Is there any way to "loop" or repeat an effect using MQTT?  I am able to trigger an effect using the following: 

FPP/falcon/player/MY-FPP-Hostname/effect/start 
Payload: "Effect-Name"

However it runs only once and stops.  I see we can repeat sequences, but was wondering if repeat is an option for effects too.  I did not see this as an option in the documentation here:

why not start a command preset via mqtt and have that start the effect on loop? if you can't do it directly?
