I am setting up new f16v4 controller.  I can access the configuration page from a wired connection and enter my wireless network settings.  After that I can see it on my network settings and discover it in xlights but it does not access the configuration when I enter the IP address.  I am sure I am missing something simple

Are the Wi-Fi and Ethernet ports on the same network, or do you have a separate display network?

LightItUp

Same network.  When I did the initial setup I accessed the interface through ethernet and entered my wifi network information.  I can see the wifi IP address on the OLED and on my network devices page but the address does not work when I enter it in my browser. Using firefox.

Are you trying to access using the fpp.local name or entering in the IP address?  Try connecting to the IP address instead of the name if you haven't already.

You cannot have both interfaces on the same network at the same time.  Ethernet is preferred over WIFI and if the F16 receives data or a browser call on WIFI, it will reply over the Ethernet connection and your browser will not see it as it is looking for the WIFI address in the reply.  Change the Ethernet address to something that is not on your network and reboot and try again.

If the Ethernet cable is still plugged in, that could keep the Wi-Fi from working.  Good suggestion!

I have the ethernet unplugged.  On the f16 OLED it shows Eth: 0.0.0.0  wifi shows the IP that I assigned.  when I enter the IP in browser it shows page not found (ESP) 004

I built several F16v4 controllers this summer.  My table would fill up and I would assign them a wifi address on the same network and move them in the other room.  I could always get to the GUI interface via wifi no issues, but they were unplugged from ethernet at the time.  As tbone321 suggested, you would not want to leave both interfaces on the same network long term, but it should work long enough to connect wifi and change the ethernet interface to something else.

If you plug the ethernet interface back in... can you connect to it again from the ethernet side?  The builtin wifi does not have an antenna, therefore does not have very good signal strength.  You are not trying to attach to it with the controller outside in your yard or something like that?

The F16v4 wifi has severe limitations.  Before we get too far in the weeds... what are you trying to do over the wifi connection?

This may actually be an issue with the F16 itself.  I bought the version 3 F48 with the intention of being able to configure it over wireless and have the Ethernet port connected to the PI for show data but it does not let you do that.  The only way to access the configuration page is thru its Ethernet connection making the wireless capability pretty much useless, at least for me.  They have supposedly changed this with the version 4 units but you need to take a look at the firmware version you have and make sure that it supports that capability.

I reached out to pixelcontroller and they told me to reinstall the firmware.  Solved my problem and working like I wanted.
