After reading a lot of forum posts, I've com e to the conclusion that running my LOR controllers in DMX mode can be run of my Pi running all of other controllers?  Is that assumption correct?

LOR controller --- DMX to LOR cable ----- Universe {~} for the LOR controllers 1-512
(Like explained in Leechburg lights Video's)

Thanks

What other controllers do you have? If you have a F16v2 then run your lor stuff from it.

I believe all of those can output dmx to lor.

Yes, the Alphapix 16 has three dedicated DMX outputs and each Alphapix 4 has one dedicated DMX output.  You don't need a crossover cable, just cut the end off an ethernet cable and attach the wire running to PIN 4 to the DMX + screw down terminal.  Attach the wire running to PIN 5 to the DMX - screw down terminal.

In the Alphapix web interface, check ENABLE on the DMX output you are going to use and make that UNIVERSE 1.  Run all your LOR controllers off that output.  You can daisy chain the LOR controllers as usual with standard Ethernet cables.

Gschlice,

If you have an RS 485 USB adapter you can run native LOR from the PI without going the DMX route. No different than running a normal LOR network.

I ran 32 channels - 2 controllers flawlessly that way this year  with no lag at all. Just need to define the LOR network in the PI setup.
