FPP 7.3.5. Pi4. How do I  setup a background sequence for my "Tune To" sign to run in FPP all the time? I've searched and am maybe using the wrong terminology? I'm a LOR>Xlights>FPP type.
Thanks. I'm pretty old too.

There is the "on" sequence effect that you can use.  Mine are pixel signs, and I just import a prop that stays on a lot.  The signs then change the same colors as the sequence and become part of the display.

You cannot view this attachment.

It runs in XL background OK, just not figured out how to get it into Falcon Player.  Thanks.

I am a LOR convert myself.  I am only aware of one sequence at a time being played on FPP.  Not suggesting it is not possible, but have never tried or seen anyone ask this before.  I just add the sign programming to every single sequence.  If only wanted the "Tune To Signs" to play, I would create a TuneToSign only sequence and play that when the songs were not playing.

Maybe someone else will have a better suggestion.

I am running some of the 100 or so as lms converts to fseq. 16 years worth and I'm too old to start over or go back into LOR to add the tune sign. :o But yes that is one way. I think there is a way as I did FPP way back about PI v1 or so and remember having one. Maybe a second Pi isolated not slaved just for the sign? I'm all wireless so that would work. I could do that.

You could possibly setup a second pi to run the signs, but would think they might need their own controller.  Never seen two FPPs send data to the same controller.  This is out of my scope.  There are playlist items that can be scheduled on the main FPP player, that tell other players what to do.  You might be able to place the sign sequences on their own pi and have the Master start/stop the remote pi.  Since the sequences would be local to the remote pi, in theory could still work over wifi.

I abandoned my LOR sequences and started over new.  Mine were in S4 channel format.  (Back when if you wanted purple lights, you turned on the blue and red channels at the same time).  Sounds like you have the hard part done and they are all converted.  Not sure trying to add a second Pi and supporting a non-standard installation is going to be easier.  You might try to at least add the signs to one sequence to see how it goes.  If the process sucks, you can restore from backup, and then not do the other 99.

Yes that sounds like the way, I have a Pi 5 ordered and can use my 4 for the sign. The controller I use now Advatek Pix4 just runs the sign and a LOR box. I'll experiment after This years show to see if I can put it on the Pi 4 and if the Pi 5 will still run the LOR box. Else I'll just buy another controller. Too far from the other controllers to move the LOR to one of them.  On 13 acres across about 1/4 mile.
My LMS are all 4.4.  Thanks!

Assuming you know that Pi5 is NOT compatible with FPP at this time, but they are working to make it so in the future.

CaptainMurdoch

Create an effect sequence for your Tune To sign.  Upload to FPP.  In your Lead In section of your playlist, add a "Effect Start" or "Remove Effect Start" FPP Command and start the effect sequence looping.  In your Lead Out section of the playlist, add a corresponding (Remote) Effect Stop to stop the looping effect.

I'm working on 2024. Plenty of time.
