How many pixels will each connector on the 4-String Differential SmartReceiver v2.00 Board support?

========================

Looking at the new F48V4 Differential Controller with several 4-String Differential SmartReceiver v2.00 Board.  I see the # Strings supported on each differential SmartReceiver is 4, but it doesn't list the # of pixels per string....

If I try to do the math (I'm new to this so it might be wrong), the F48V4 can support up to 704 pixels/port x 48 ports/board = 33,792 pixels/board [not sure why this doesn't match 32,768 on the spec sheet? - it's off by 1,024].  Assuming evenly divided amongst the 12 RJ45 jacks, that would leave 2,816 pixels/RJ45 jack.  Each jack can support up to 6 expansion boards each with 4 ports/board = 24 strings/RJ45 jack.  2,816 pixels/jack divided by 24 strings/jack = 117.3333 pixels per string.

So can each of the pixel string connectors on the Differential Smart Receiver support a maximum of 117 pixels/string?

Thanks for the help/clarification.

(Sorry, if this is in the wrong section)

As a follow-up, I'm looking to do a tree + some windows + the roofline of my house.  Because of the way the house was built, I have 3 separate attic areas.  I was hoping to put a single Expansion board in each attic area:

  • South Attic = 406 pixels (across 3 roof edges)
  • Main Attic = 1,052 pixels (across 16 roof edges)
  • Garage Attic = 1,213 pixels (across 6 roof edges + 3 garage doors)

I also have to outline several windows.  At a spacing of 2" between pixels, the windows would each take either 82, 94, 100, 104, 124, 142 or 160 pixels.  I was going to join/trim pixel strings so that each window would be one string - assuming I can get one window at 124, 142 or 160 pixels/string each.

Thanks!

That's because there is no set number of pixels per string. The limitation is pixels per port. The F48 has 48 ports.

That's because the board can support a maximum of 192 Universes.

That isn't how it works. The F48 has 48 ports. Each port can control 704 pixels per port. The RJ45 is for 4 ports. If you connect one receiver to the F48 in slot 1-4, then then each port on that one receiver can control 704 pixels. If you add another receiver to that chain then receiver 1 will be ports 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A and the ports on the second receiver will be 1B, 2B, 3B and 4B. So you are still only using 4 ports. So now each port is shared so Ports 1A and 2A combined can control 704 pixels, and the same with the rest. If you add a third receiver in the chain, then Ports 1A, 1B, and 1C combined can control 704 pixels (They are all still port 1)
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

There are lots of variables at play here.  Its not as simple as saying all ports run 'x' number of pixels.

1.  The Maximum Pixels for the whole board is 32768 period.  This is an overall number that overrides all others and can not be exceeded.
2.  The Maximum Pixels per port is 704 (@40fps) but that does not mean you can run 704 pixels on all 48 ports at the same time. (see #1)
3.  Smart Receiver chains SHARE port count.  So ports 1A+1B+1C must be less than or equal to the port maximum (see #2)

what would that mean in regards to running a show at 20fps?
