Hey guys,

So I am adding some HC small coroflakes 3 prong to my small but growing prop collection..thanks to my 2 yo who picked them out.  But I am tossing around plans on where and how.  I just wanted to see if you guys wanted to pitch in hacks on mounting props to various surfaces there has to be options I just can't think of.

1.) Tree hanging...clearly fishing string wont cut it a little wind and it will spin.  Any advice? I was thinking of screwing the flakes to various lengths of Schedule 40 and drilling a hole and Zip tie to limbs, but finding consistently level limbs might be tough...surely Rebar and various lengths of ground to flake mounting isn't the best option?

2.) Brick...so I have 2 3 block columns on either side of my garage like most...I have 3m squares but I don't think they will adhere enough to hold.  I rent so anchors are not really an option.

3.) any other troublesome surfaces you have hacks for I will put down in my notebook for future reference.

Thanks guys! All insight is appreciated.

Even on a flat wall I would never use just one string to hang a prop.  Props will get blown away from the wall and end up facing the wall.  Can still happen with two hangers, but the farther you can space them apart the less likely.  If you have a long string used for hanging, I would also add another to the ground to help minimize the prop being picked up by the wind.  I have seen a 46" spinner full of lights get picked up by the wind and land on the roof.  It is now mounted much higher up on the house and only has about 15" of cord between the prop and the hanger.

Wow, that was dedicated and the effort shows! I ended up running with Schedule 40 about 8 inches long zip tied to branches.

We had severe storms dropping tornadoes earlier this week and everything held up...except the TT Sign...the rain washout let it fall pixel side down.  Poor little fella.

I am getting creative with a modular design Megatree that I am going all Myth Busters on right now that I would say is as close as I am getting to anything like that.  If I choose to mount the Singing Tree above the garage, I will be going with a mount plate and threaded schedule 40...I rent...cant risk the eve coming down and can't anchor to the brick.

Thank you for sharing this.

Yeah I've thought about the magnets before.  Any known issues with the IC's due to the magnets?  They would need to be pretty strong magnets down here in good ol Tejas.
