Hi There,

I recently purchased the F16v5, but when I turn the power on it reads on the LCD screen 'Firmware File Invalid, Hit Any Button'.
After pressing any button, the LCD reads, 'Erasing' and then 'rebooting' to work fine after that.
This is ok when I'm home, but I have all the power to my controllers on timers and if I'm not at home to press any button on start-up, the show won't play.
I have tried re-installing the firmware but to no joy.
Any ideas?

Thanks very much

There is no manual for the F16v5.  The error needs to be fixed while under warranty, and it would be best to reach out to Falcon Support david@pixelcontroller.com.

I would guess you need to factory reset it, and try to install a new firmware image.  Section 5 "Firmware Update or Factory Reset" covers that on the V4 series, but not sure if it is the same process on the v5 as I don't own one. With it being under warranty I would call Pitts.

Hi JonD,

Thanks for the reply, I have sent an e-mail to David. But in the meantime, I have carried out more troubleshooting and may have found the issue.
I have been powering the F16v5 via EXT PWR port at 5v. I pulled this cable out and powered the board via V2 at 12v, the board started perfectly every time. I may not be providing enough power to the EXT PWR port. I will keep it powered by V2 from now on.

When I get a reply from David, I Will update him with my findings.

Thanks again for your help

I have the same issue, brandnew board powered 12v at v2, nI have tried to up/down grade the firmware but that does not work either!

Any help would be appreciated!

The F16v5 firmware issue gets reported a lot.  I can only recommend that you reach out to David Pitts.  There has been feedback that this can be caused by power issues.  If you do get this resolved, please come back and let us know what you did.

I have had a response from the vendor I purchased from, I have to send it back for a bootloader swap. I presume that means they have to reflash the main CPU.

I will report back once I have received it back.
