Issues with Daisy Chain F16v4 using network ports

As I read the F16v4 Manual it states that you can daisy chain controllers via the 2 (black) network ports on the controller.

If I run a seperate wire for each controller from the switch, I have no issues. I can pull up all five of my F16v4 controllers via their ip in my browser.

However, I try to daisy chain from one controller to the next I can only reach the first controller. I know the cables are good because I am using the same cables that work when I am not daisy chained.

The network port lights up on the first controller (from the switch), but not on subsequent controllers. 

They way I read the manual it appears the 2 network ports work like a switch. It sounds like it does not matter which port you plug into as long as one is receiving and the other is outputing to the next controller.

Am I missing a setting? Am I reading this wrong?

You cannot connect the controllers to each other using the red RS485 ports.  The red ports are for smart receivers, lor, dmx (serial RS485) connections.  The controllers are connected to each other via silver/black ethernet ports.  You should not plug serial into ethernet, or ethernet into serial.  You can damage the ports if you try.

Assuming if you plug a cable from the switch into the silver/black ethernet port it works.  There are two ethernet ports on the controller.  Plug one silver port into the switch, and the other one into the other controller (silver/black port).

My bad... V3 the rs485 ports are black, and v4 the rs485 ports are red.  Yes, that should work.  The ethernet ports will work as a two port switch and you should be able to chain two F16v4s together using the network ports.

"There is no difference between the two ports, and either can be used for input or output.  Each port runs at 100Mbps.

The two ports are connected via a switch so that data is passed on to the next device when the controller is powered. While either of the two Network connectors can be used to receive data, only one of the two should be connected to the device sending the data to the controller.  The other port is typically used to send data to additional E1.31/Artnet controllers, commonly called "daisy-chaining.""

When working plugged into the switch, can you move the ethernet cable to the other network port on the controller and still be working?   In theory, it would not matter which ethernet port on the controller you plugged into.  If you can connect to one port, but not the other you might have a bad ethernet port.  If you can connect to either port from the switch, you might have a bad ethernet cable between the two controllers.
