Good evening all,
As our shows are playing I had a thought last year and the year prior and never asked about it - and again this year with v8 of FPP I have had the need again. At times during a playlist I have a specific request or we have a specific group of viewers where I may decide it would better be served if I skipped ahead a few songs or jumped/moved a song in the list....

Is there a way that a feature can be added where the playlist can be rearranged (similar to how the drag works in building playlist) so a song could be dragged ahead or behind currently playing song in the set list in the player table while the set list is running. Also could there is a checkbox 'skip me once' type thing where the player simply skips over that song for that iteration of the playlist? a third thought is maybe being able to drop a song into a current playlist that wasn't scheduled. Trying to skip forward a few songs or back a few songs is always a roll of the dice and this would make it a little easier.

I don't think I have seen a method to do this yet and it would be a nice addition for those of us that are out on foot 'working the crowd' and know it may be 20 songs down the list looking for a song for the church busses and large group of kids.

You can use the FPP Command "Insert Playlist after current" and select the song that you want to play.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Having that option and also creating a preset command is cool, but that's difficult on a tablet or smart phone while outside. Can the functionality of the Insert Playlist before current" be added into a button then on the player status screen that you simply tap and select a sequence, song, etc.? And a "skip next sequence/song" without ending up with a sequence starting and having to bump the skip button?

While running last nights show another thought occurred. We had several thousand cars last year, this year I have put in a "Quick Reminder" telling drivers to pull to the side of the road and be mindful to not block the display, watch out for walkers, etc. etc. - It would be nice with that specific sequence also, not just the song flow and sequences playing with certain crowds (I realize I can, and probably will, build that into a command preset this afternoon), the overall functionality of adding this would be helpful.

The "Big Buttons" plug-in should do this for you.

I would look at implementing Remote Falcon and do not publicize it, i.e., keep it for your own use.

My understanding is that Big Buttons will not let you select and insert or jump/move to any sequence the way Insert Playlist does or drag/dropping the active playlist would from the player screen unless I missed something. For the secondary thought that would work (queing the 'quick reminder'), but not for on-the-fly altering the playlist to jump ahead over a song or drop a one-time change in the active playlist like mentioned above.

This is a unique idea and I *sorta* like it, but functionality and setup is not ideal for what I am looking for in the feature. The plugin uses I believe the same commands to essentially insert a song into the list the long way.

Big Buttons is not going to do anything other than create buttons to automate tasks.  It would be similar to creating a icon on your desktop.  It should work fine.

You can setup a script or command preset and then call either from a button press.

not trying to shoot down your idea, it's a good idea but not what I am looking for, I am aware of what Big Buttons is and most of that can be handled on the main player screen (as long as my eyesight is still good) with my phone, I have been running FPP since ~2018 - the suggestion though is to be able to edit/change the playlist on the fly. I have quite a few times unannounced busses from local churches or a large group of children between several family mini-vans where serving up Kermit, Minions, Frozen, Ruldolf, etc. is more exciting than Burl Ives and some of the other sequences for a particular group stopping by. I've added my "Quick Reminder" (stay off the grass, dim headlights, stay off driveway etc.) is already in my command presets now. but having over 3 hours of songs sequenced and broken into set lists for each night, being able to randomly drop or move a playlist around would be spectacular as I would be able to more easily work (accommodate) the current crowd and get them on their way vs. having 15-25 cars stacked while one group is waiting to hear song X they know I have this year and they got to see last year that is sitting at the bottom of a playlist. We've been blessed to have a good location, great neighborhood that is accepting and loves it, and a long residential road with ample space for watching the show for up to an hour or more with some visitors for our show... but as we grow I have found that I can probably ease traffic (espeically the large busses) by being able to drop in a few they are waiting to see and then stuffing Burl in the playlist and get folks to move on until the next night :)

Not the granularity or flexibility I was looking for but I may be stuck just building some short playlists and building a few preset commands to insert them.

It would be unusual to see a feature like this added in the middle of the busy season.  I would do the best with what you have, wait until January/February, and then post a feature request on the GitHub site if you were not able to work around the issue.

I will be sure to do that, I wouldn't expect during the season to see a new feature, I just never think about it until I realize I need it, then I forget about it by the time I start packing props away.
