I have an FPP player that sometimes struggles to connect to some of the 10 controllers it is playing back through. This seems to have resulted in it filling up the logs (and thus the SD card) stopping it from booting. Is there away to stop it logging completly (I know this is not ideal)?
Is there anything else that could be filling up the SD card?

Thanks

garyh

Why not fix the issue of it struggling?  Are you running unicast and what I do is hook my PI to a 24 port switch and I have each controller individually connected with a network cable.  That way the switch knows which IP is on each port and I reduce network congestion using unicast also.

FPP has a mechanism to purge the logs so this really shouldn't be happening. I agree that you should fix the problem and not hide it.

Hi, thanks for the replies, I would absolutley like to fix the issue, But I am not on site for a couple of weeks. Also It seems the log files weren't got rid of. A couple of other people have reported the issue on the facebook market place.
I also agree that unicasting is great from reducing network traffic but it is also harder to monitor the sACN data, it also makes it very easy to switch out controllers.
Thanks
Steve

It would be nice to see those log file and the directory listing to see all the logs and their size.

Facebook Marketplace is not the proper way to post issues. If you have issues, post them in GitHub where the developers will get notified.

Actually, Multicast uses less traffic on the network than Unicast.

Not really a fully valid statement.  Where Multicast is a basically a one way protocol and does not establish back and forth communication like unicast does, it also sends that traffic to EVERY HOST on the network so it in fact INCREASES local network traffic.  Pretty much like replacing all of your switches with hubs.

Not if you are using quality switches, routers, and access points.   If they properly handle the IGMP protocol, then the multicast traffic is ONLY sent to the devices that subscribe to it.   Thus, reducing traffic.

Problem is that a lot of cheap consumer grade stuff doesn't handle it correctly (or at all).

The problem is that most people use exactly that, consumer grade as do I.  There really is no need for anything else in most home networks so why spend the extra money and most don't.  Sure, there are situations where a home network may need that level of configuration and security but for most of us, it is nothing more than bragging rights.  Much like the people that buy 1000 HP sports cars and only drive them on the street.

I managed to get remote access today. The fppd log and syslog are 4gb and 8gb respectively so couldn't down load them over the remote connection, but it would seem my syslog was filled with multiple.

Any Idea what might be causing this.
Thanks for the help.
