I moved recently and pulled my F16v3 out of storage to start programming it for this years show.  I updated it from whatever it was (1.x something) to the latest (2.59).  After my problems started I found deep in the forums that I should have gone to 2.55 first.  At this point, I did install 2.55 and that is where it is at the moment.

My problem:  the controller will boot up and I can see it on my router and enter into the GUI through the web browser.  After anywhere from between 30 sec and 2 min later it will completely freeze.  The uptime counter stops, buttons will not work, and I cannot access the GUI anymore.  This also happens even if I just plug one end of the ethernet cord into either the eth0 or eth1 ports and the other end is not connected to anything.

As a test, I set this up and ran it for 20+ hrs today and everything seemed to work just fine without the ethernet cord connected.  The uptime counter and buttons still worked - but of course no way to access the controller for programming.

Any suggestions?

JonD

You need to factory reset the controller and upgrade the bootloader in the process when upgrading to 2.55.  The bootloader file is included in the zip with the 2.55 firmware.  Assuming you have done this no suggestions.

Factory Reset (Needed when updating from 2.0x )
1) Save settings to file to reload after update.
2) Power Down
3) Hold in Select button (Next to Right Button)
4) Power up while holding button. The controller should display message stating a reset is occurring.

Replacing bootloader. (These steps are only done once)
1) Place BootloaderUpdater_v1.00.fal on a MicroSD card (32GB or Smaller, formatted Fat32).
2) Place MicroSD card into controller and apply power.
3) The application will be loaded and the screen will prompt to remove sd card and power down then up.
4) Remove SD card.
5) Power Down/up
6) The application will replace bootloader.

Updating Firmware (These steps taken for each firmware update)
1) Place .fl2 file MicroSd card
2) Power Down/Up
3) The firmware will install
4) Remove card when finished and power down/up.
5) Controller will boot

Jon, Thanks for the suggestion.

However, when I push the select button during the power-up, it does not go to a factory reset (yes, I picked the farthest right button, but I also tried every other button at this point to make sure).  I even held it for the entire reboot process and never got it to trigger the reset.

I have also tried replacing the bootloader and the firmware a few different times as well.

Just hoping there was another suggestion.  Thanks.  I will try again, but unsure what is going on.

You could reach out to David Pitts at Falcon Support.  You could try to install firmware 2.56 , 2.57, or 2.58.  I have seen it where installing the same version over the top of the same does not help, but installing a different one does.  Once you get beyond the current issue, you should be able to go back to the one you want after.

Good Luck!
