Have been Googling looking for some written documentation on the smart differential receivers (v2.01 black) or at least a quick start guide or reference or summary sheet.
I really prefer written documentation to ewetube videos.
Or can someone at least point me to a video that is short, concise, and to the point.  All the ones I found so far are long winded and keep straying from the subject, and loaded with spam to subscribe and buy stuff. 😠

There is no documentation for the 2.01 products that I am aware of.  There is some documentation for the 2.01 in the F16v4 manual, but it is limited to what applies to the F16v4.  There is an older document for the 1.0x versions that still applies in some cases.  Between the two it would cover most of the issues.  The black ones are only sold for Kulp products and do not work with the Falcons, but assuming they are very similar.

Not much to the 2.01.  Last one in the chain needs to be in termination mode.  Termination absorbs the remaining line energy to prevent it from reflecting backwards causing ghosting and other undesirables.  Premature termination will cause the remaining items in the chain not to have a happy ending.  Nothing behind a terminated 2.01 will get data, so make sure only the last one in the chain has the termination set to "ON".  If you do not terminate any of them, once the data gets to the end of the line, it can reflect and go backwards which would be bad.  You would most likely have lights playing when they were not suppose to, or randomly not at all.

Then the first one is A, the second one needs to be set to B, and etc.  Only one A,B,C,D,E,F per chain  The rest would be controller related.

Additionally, you did not mention which controller you were using.  You might look for documentation on the 2.01 in the controller manual.

@JonD looks like the start to a manual right there in your reply.  Clean it up and send it David Pitts.  Maybe he can add a little bit and put it up on the web site.  I do not use receivers so no experience to add from me.

The question gets asked enough I have lots of practice responding! :)  Poporacer's job is safe though! ;)

Yes the black v2.01 receivers DO work with the falcon products.  I attached a doc that DarylC and I updated and put together.  The v2.01 receivers have not been added to this version of the doc yet.. However, Ken with wired watts, hosts a version of this very same chart on his site where he sells the black receivers at https://www.wiredwatts.com/falexprec4v21.   The v2.01 black need to have the dial in position 4-9 on the falcon controllers where 4=A, 5=B, etc.

Interesting.  When the Blue 2.01 version were out of stock a while back, I asked if I could use the Black ones.  David told me not to buy them, and Kulp's website site still displays they are not compatible with v4 products.  Must be because they do not work in smart mode on the v4s.

Good job on the spreadsheet!  Thanks for sharing!

That the case some time ago yes.. the v2.00 will NOT work in smart mode on the v4 falcons.  However, that was corrected in firmware on the v2.01 of the black BBB receivers that just start shipping recently.

Hopefully not hijacking the thread as my question is related.

From what I've read in the manuals somewhere you can't daisy chain SR white 1.x boards with SR blue 2.01 boards on the F48 white? Is there any other major difference between the 1.x and 2.01 boards? Also is there anywhere that highlights the difference between the F48 white and F48v4? In the Falcon comparison document it outlines a difference between supported pixels etc. But is there some other general feature comparison?

bloojoop

I don't have a direct comparison on the 2 f48 versions but I do know that the F48 (white) has 16 channel banking and max pixel count per port is dependent on the banking slider in the interface.  This is NOT the case for the f48v4.
Also the blue SR v2.01 can daisy chain in a smart receiver chain with a white v1.x SR on the f48 white board.  The blue SR dial would need to be set to 1 for position A, 2 for B, 3 for C.
