FPP running simple countdown

I've got a Stand alone FPP running several video only files to help folks with radio settings and parking.  I thought I could add simple countdown to the mix.  I'm only using the HDMI video output with no other controllers.  

Question: Will simple countdown allow me to output to the HDMI port WITHOUT setting up a Virtual Matrix?  If so do I need to do anything special in the setup?
