Thought I read that if I used a smart receiver connected to one of the RJ45 differential ports,I would loose a port on the board. Is that right or did I dream that?

I only have 2 ports left on the K16A-B and was thinking about using a receiver or just getting another K16/K32.

Not on the K16.   With the K16, you can use all 16 local ports and still have all 16 ports on the differential ports AND all 16 ports on the expansion.
