So, If I play a sequence either manually on the Status page or from the scheduler the sequence will play just fine, but when I press the Stopnow button on the status page, the sequence stops for about 2 seconds then starts playing again and won't stop even when the button is pushed again.

Any ideas? Oh I'm running V5.5

I have a test SD card running v5.5-26-gf21fd7a5 on a Pi 4b (8gb).  I was unable to recreate the same issue you are having.  Regardless if the schedule was running, or if I started the playlist manually.  When I hit the "Stop Now" button it stopped immediately... no issues.

There have been several random playlist issues, but I have not seen anyone mention this one before.  Not sure there will be any time spent on 5.5 any more.  You could try upgrading to 6.2, or if for some reason you need/want to stay on 5.5, you could try backing your settings up, install a fresh copy of 5.5, and restore from backup.

I have used the Stop Now button dozens of times in just about every version of 5.5 and got the same results as @JonD works perfectly. and like he mentioned if there was a bug (which I doubt) the developers are not going to fix an outdated version. It could be network issues so that the command is not actually getting received by FPP.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Funny thing is it used to be fine. It's only started doing it last few days. I have restarted FPP, the router and the Espixelsticks.

You could have a failing SD card that is beginning to corrupt the OS and FPP on that system and rebooting will do nothing to fix that.  I would do as suggested and back up that system and install a fresh image of FPP on a new SD card and see what happens.

There have not been any updates to 5.5 for sometime.  If it was working a few days ago, most likely either something you did, or something corrupted.  Power outages, unexpected shutdowns can corrupt files. Like tbone suggested, SD cards go bad all the time.

had you worked with command presets at all?  Saw something similar a little while back and that person had a command preset configured to start a playlist that was causing it to get started in a loop.  Also if you had done any "insert playlist immediate" then you would need to stop all multiple times for each insert immediate that got triggered.  ask me how I know :)
