I really like the ease of use of Simple Countdown but there appears to be a bug as well as an issue with it's use and if I am doing something wrong, then please let me know how to use it correctly.  I use it for Halloween and Thanksgiving as a countdown on my tune to sign before the Christmas season with a wrap around banner and for the most part, it works perfectly.  The bug that I see is that on the day of the holiday, instead of displaying the message that I set for the countdown reached, it is scrolling a message that the countdown date has passed which it has not.  If I set the date for October 31 and it is October 31, the countdown date has NOT been passed, it has been reached.  In the plugin setup screen, it is displaying Happy Halloween in the "your message will appear as" field which is the countdown completed message I put in the countdown completed text field but on the actual display itself, it is scrolling the text that the countdown has been exceeded message.

That is also the issue that I am referring to.  It is really sloppy to display a message like that on the output matrix ever.  People seeing that would have no clue what it is referring to and looks bad in the display.  I can see that being a valid message in the setup screen but not in the actual output.  If the countdown has actually been exceeded, then it should really just show nothing on the output itself or text from the user in a separate field possible named countdown exceeded text.

In my setup, the tune to matrix starts up at 4:00 PM and shuts down at midnight, including power to the Pi running it.  During both Halloween and Thanksgiving, it acts as a countdown timer for those Holidays and becomes an actual tune to sign after Thanksgiving.  There may be an issue with the Pi and plugin starting up on the actual day instead of running up to and thru it.  I hope that something can be done with this or at least send a message if nothing intends to be done since I intend to use it for this coming Thanksgiving so I know if I need to make changes.  I could always simply let the countdown run up to the day and simply not call it on the day and use a simple scrolling message for the countdown day but if the field exists to display a countdown reached message, it should work as expected.  If I am using it incorrectly, please let me know so that I can correct that if possible.

Yes, that is a bug.

That is your opinion and if you don't like the message that is displayed or the logic, then feel free to change it.

Feel free to file a bug report.

Yes, and like stated, that is a bug.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.
