Hello,

I've been happily running a K32+BBB for my 4k pixel display, and a Holiday Coro Hinkspix for my ~4k house trim pixels. All of this is currently orchestrated via xScheduler running on a laptop.

I would like to migrate the show to run off of the BeagleBoneBlack so in effect having FPP drive the HinksPix controller versus xScheduler.

I cannot find any great example except 2 Youtubes that were from last year and used multiple LANS (wired, and wireless) to do so. Does a simpler approach like having xLights load the show setup on the HinksPix and then have FPP drive it exist?

Thanks!

MikeKrebs

If you have it set up like you described, it is really simple to add an FPP device. My gut says don't drive a K32 and another full controller off the BBB used for the K32. Buy a rpi 3b+ or 4 and substitute it for xscheduler.

That said, if you are ~only~ running 8,000 pixels split between the two controllers, you likely can do that easily but some things might be manual. I am sure one of xLights gurus could tell you how to configure it to work. Because there likely would be some back and forth, you should visit the xlights zoom room and ask for help with that. When you get the answers, please come back here and let us know what they said.

On the HinksPix support page on HC, the last video on the page is about doing the reverse of what you asked. Use HinksPix Pro as Master and drive another controller from it. This seems relatively straight forward and xLights appears to have full support for doing that.

None of the information I looked at says whether the Hinkspix supports the FPP sync packet. They have a sync packet but I only saw that diagrammed between two Hinkspix and not with FPP as master. Maybe someone can speak to that question.
