New Plugin

I have been trying to us AI to create a plugin. So far it has worked really well. But not sure if this can happen.

My idea is to create a plugin that uses an API and connected to my website. Parents will be able to visit my site and enter their child's first name and if they should be on the naughty or nice list (just a fun interactive prop). Then the fpp plugin polls my website api every 30 seconds to see if there are any new names.

On the prop I will have 1 p5 at the top of the prop that will either say Naughty or Nice. The bottom will be a 3 panel wide 2 panel tall display that will show the names.

I have the plugin up to pulling in and showing a sample, but I cannot get it to output to the led panels. That is where I am getting stuck. Do you know if this would even be possible?

A few other plugins use other plugins to do this. Look at the message queue plugin and the matrix plugins and check this thread for hints.

There are matrix tools built into FPP for outputting data to matrix panels/Overlay Models. You don't need another plug in. Look at the Simple Countdown plugin for an example.

Its funny I decided to attempt this as well, Ill see if I can dig up the scripts as I never really finished it, but it uses scripts and matrix overlays to accomplish it. How mine works, the parent adds the name on my website the script then randomly decides naughty/nice. There are 2 lists with the last 10 names stored for the Naughty/Nice lists the new name is added to the top of the list, and the last name is dropped. The Nice/Naughty lists displayed alternately on the Virtual Matrix and scrolled down the list.
