F16v3 v2.58

Does anyone have a copy of firmware v2.58? v2.59 will not install for some reason.

I am currently running v2.56 and would like to setup as DDP.

2.58 won't help you if 2.59 won't install.  Focus on why 2.59 won't install.

Well, I've tried installing 2.59 several times using different MicroSD Cards. Was wondering if it didn't like that firmware, so wanted to try 2.58.

I updated this controller to 2.56 a few years ago, so don't believe it is the card slot or controller.

I will keep looking at getting 2.59 to install.

I still have a copy of 2.58v for the Fv3s.  PM me if you still need it.

As others have suggested... make sure you follow the directions exactly.  A lot of people try to skip the reset controller step, but that it is an important step that must be done first.  If the boot loader is needed, place that on the card by itself, once upgraded, remove and place the firmware second.  Place one or the other at a time and not both.  At least I never had luck placing them both on the card at the same time.

I have had several issues with firmware not wanting to update correctly, and have had to downgrade to lower version first.  I don't have a copy of 2.56, so I was most likely downgrading to 2.55, then upgrading back to 2.59.  I would not recommend downgrading unless you are out of options.  I have done it more than once, and it fixed it every time, but I only did it as a last resort Hail Mary that happened to work.

Yeah, I followed the instructions exactly. I did reset the controller, then try the boot loader. It is like it doesn't recognize the microSD or the file. 

I don't mind staying at v2.56, if downgrading could cause more issues. Would downgrading it to 2.55 cause more issues?

It does seem like it needs to be to a 32gb (or less) formatted Fat32 card.  You might try a different type of card if you have another laying around.

Factory Reset (Needed when updating from 2.0x )
1) Save settings to file to reload after update.
2) Power Down
3) Hold in select button (Next to right button).
4) Power up while holding button. The controller should display message stating a reset is occurring.

Replacing bootloader. (These steps are only done once)
1) Place BootloaderUpdater_v1.00.fal on a MicroSD card (32GB or Smaller, formatted Fat32).
2) Place MicroSD card into controller and apply power.
3) The application will be loaded and the screen will prompt to remove sd card and power down then up.
4) Remove SD card.
5) Power Down/up
6) The application will replace bootloader.

Updating Firmware (These steps taken for each firmware update)
1) Place .fl2 file MicroSd card
2) Power Down/Up
3) The firmware will install
4) Remove card when finished and power down/up.
5) Controller will boot 
 
Downgrading is not in any official directions.  I only downgraded long enough for it to take 2.55.  Once at 2.55, I immediately was able upgrade to 2.59.  I have around a dozen boards and had to do that to a couple in a snow storm one year.  It was like something was not updating properly and there was enough difference in 2.55 that it would install.  I never had an issue upgrading from 2.55 to 2.59 after.  In my case it was not working and I had nothing to loose.
