I have my lights and controller turn off with a smart plug. They say it's bad for the FPP to be unplugged from power without shutting it down. Can I run a script to have it stop and power off? That way I can have the plug disconnect power and when the plug turns back on the pi will turn on as well. I do have smartthings so will that tell the pi to power off?

Yep, there's a script for that in the Script Repository.  It's called FPP Shutdown.

Thanks, I found it. How do I set it up to run at a given time?

Stormyblade

Create a Playlist, add an entry, choose Script for the type of entry, then enter in the name of your shutdown script - that's how I set mine up. Add this playlist in your schedule to run after your main playlist finishes.

Or easier yet, just add it to the Lead Out section, no need to create a new schedule.

A long time ago, several FPP versions back, just shutting power off of a Pi could, maybe, might have been, etc a problem.  Changes were made and that is much less of an issue and one that I have not seen any posts about in a couple of years.  I run over a dozen FPPs and always just power them off.  I do make sure no testing or sequencing is running at the time.  I've never had the issue and  have used FPP since ver 1.  Just another opinion for you to think about.
