Hi,
2nd year doing pixel lights, and have many questions but my biggest issue is trying to use Text Countdown function in XLights.
Am running an FPP Beaglebone and octoscoller on a 3x4 P10 LED Panel.
I have found out so far:
  • I have read various posts in various places about this issue dating back years (2016)  and just trying to find out the exact state of this issue.
  • Does this feature work or not when run on the FPP?
  • I cannot seem to get it to work?
  • I have tried to use the Simple Countdown and Event Date Plugins but there is very little control over the text placement.
All I am looking for is a countdown timer that works based on the current date and time in the FPP and will accurately display it whilst running on FPP. and that you can control the text so that it does not just scroll across the screen and disappear.

Has anyone been able to work out a solution to this issue.
Or have the FPP and Xlight people been able to get together to make it work like I am sure that many people would appreciate
Sorry if I sound frustrated but I don't know why it shouldn't work

It works as designed. It is designed as just a countdown. Not a calculated countdown to a date. Something like "Show is going to start in 5 minutes, 4 minutes etc.

The Simple Countdown will be stationary or scroll, but that is about it....hence the name "Simple" countdown.

Not yet, that can be a very tedious task, that is why I just did the Simple one.

You are the first one in 6 years that has requested this as far as I know. And I am sure that the developers are better used to create effects/features that are requested by more people. The proper way to request enhancements is by filing an enhancement request on GitHub where the developers check on a regular basis and maybe a few more will express interest as well.

No worries, they work as designed, they just don't work like you would like them too which can be frustrating. Sorry I didn't have any better information for you.
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.
