I re-imaged with 8.3 (brand new SD Card) and everything seems to work fine, except that changing the login to Custom and setting a custom user and password does not seem to save, even though the green popups say so. It keeps reverting to fpp and falcon

How small of a µSD card are you using?

Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

I'm setting up a new Pi 4 FPP Player and noticed the RemoteShutdown script is no longer available for install. Is there another supported way to do this?  I tried a custom script in the Playlist but wasn't successful, I probably didn't have it scripted correctly.

Thanks.

You can setup a shutdown option in the command preset on the remote, and then use the "remote trigger command preset/slot" option from the main player if you still need.

I just upgraded my Pi4 virtual matrix from 7.5 to 8.3. Now my VM screen seems compressed down to only the upper left corner of the TV screen. It is about 20% of the size it should be and there are 2 images (one stacked on top of the other) and flickering. I made no other changes. Confirmed my channel count. It ran fine on 7.5 version.

UPDATE:
I've spent the last hour doing some investigation. I 'downgraded' starting at V8.3 using the Help/About tab in FPP. I simply sequentially selected each prior fppos.
V8.3 issue as described above
V8.2 same
V8.1 same
V8.0 same

V7.5 - After selecting this version and doing the update.... the Pi wouldn't bootup. The error was something about not being able to start xxx kernel. I then went to Github and downloaded the 7.5 image and reimaged the SD card. Pi booted up and I reloaded the saved Pi configuration. Problem solved; the display is working correctly again. Unless I am missing something there definitely is something buggy about FPP V8 and virtual matrix. I'm happy to provide more information if it helps. Each time I was using the same Pi and the same TV, no other changes.

Thanks JonD, I see where to do this.

Quote from: onesillyhatch on December 01, 2024, 06:40:20 PMIt wont let me past the initial setup page after updating to 8.3!! Very frustrating.  It says low space my not be able to update settings.

update I ssh'ed in and deleted the install files but I still cant access my file manager and fppd deamon won't run.
anyone know how to get fppd deamon to or reinstall.  It seems like it is missing.

RPI3 / K8B - Upgrade to 8.3 - Wireless network reports very bad signal (-65ish usually) so the RPI based controllers just drop and join the network constantly, previous 7.5x had substantially better signal (-40ish usually).  Using external (default setting) wireless drivers.  Tethering works fine on one controller, not on the other; recovering is a challenge.  These were both fresh SD card images and not upgrades.

BB / K8B - upgrade to 8.3 all is well

Is there a rollback to pre 8.x or is that not possible?

8.4 was released today. I would try to upgrade to 8.4 first.

If you are still having issues, you can revert back to 7.5.  Make a non-protected backup of your existing FPP settings, install a fresh image of FPP 7.5 on new/different SD card, answer initial startup questions and expand drive, then restore from backup.
