Hi,

During the summer, I installed Big Buttons in FPP 7.1 without problem.  I needed to do another installation this week; I tried it in the 7.1 and 8.5 plugin managers with the following error:

Installing plugin fpp-BigButtons
Cloning into 'fpp-BigButtons'...
warning: Could not find remote branch 27f3c82438fdc2f19a54d2f7c9cadfa590031622 to clone.
fatal: Remote branch 27f3c82438fdc2f19a54d2f7c9cadfa590031622 not found in upstream origin
Failed to fetch fpp-BigButtons using https://github.com/FalconChristmas/fpp-BigButtons.git -- aborting
{"Status":"Error","Message":"Could not properly install plugin"}

I believe this is NOT an internet access problem with FPP. It fetches NTP time and other plugins install correctly. I was also able to clone the repo from the FPP CLI, though I don't know how to make it run in that case. Despite these communication successes, FPP system health check always reports internet failure.

I'm nearly a total loss on Github, but it looks to me like the branch doesn't exist. I tried to create an issue in the BigButtons repository, but the "New issue" button does nothing even though I am logged in.

Commits were made in July and September. Perhaps one of those broke the install?

Thanks for any help!

The FPP needs to be at the correct time and date for SSL to work, and these are HTTPS sites.  Verify the time is correct, but sounds like NTP is working.  FPP 7.1 is no longer supported, and have no other suggestions.  I use big buttons, but have not tried to install in a while.  There has been a large internet outage the past couple of days.  You might try again, to see if it was related to the outage.  Maybe others will have suggestions.

I just updated my inside tree Pi from 7.xx to FPP 8.5.-24.. I put the tree up yesterday but do not have lights on it yet so cannot test it, but my phone big buttons still come up and big buttons config in the Pi still looks correct.

Whatever the cause, it has rectified itself.  Yesterday I opened the same plugin manager in the same FPP 8.5 instance, clicked on the same BigButtons install button, and it installed like it always had. Restored the backup made from 7.1 and I have all my buttons back, and man oh man does it make it easier to manually run sequences when we have guests.

Thanks for the suggestions. Hope you all have a terrific show season!

There was a big CloudFlare outage the other day that was impacting a lot of systems.  Possible the big buttons plug-in was stored on a different server than the others, and some were working, others were not.  Glad it is working for you now!
