Question about sub models

After viewing some videos and looking at some sequences I have noticed that there seems to be 2 different ways I can assign sub models. If you have a snowflake and want to make a sub model for "arms" you can make a sub model for each arm or make one sub model called arms and then assign a node range for each arm. Is there any benefit to using one or the other?

thanks

Bob

The difference is the level of control.  If you create a separate sub model for each arm, then you can apply a separate  effect to each arm.  If you create a sub model that includes all of the arms, then applying an effect to that sub model will affect all of the arms so the benefit to either one is the level of control verses ease that you desire over the model.

Thanks tbone that's the info I was looking for. I will create separate sub models, not sure I would use diff effects on multiple arms , but nice to know I can or if I purchase a sequence that does.

thanks
