Falcon Player (FPP) / Re: Bridging networks so show ...
Last post by bloojoop - July 04, 2022, 03:08:03 PM
Thank you for the diagram as that helps a lot.   Yes this is a slightly different and more complex setup than most and not specifically accounted for in the manual.  Anyway, I'll do my best to describe what you need here:
on the raspberry pi, the wlan0 interface will connect to your home network (only one radio on the rpi so if connecting to existing network, it cannot operate as a access point).  The wlan0 would need to be on teh 192.168.1.0 network as you described but the eth0 needs to be on the show network of 192.168.0.0 NOT 192.168.100.0 as you listed it in your diagram and as other have pointed out. Try these settings:
rpi
wlan0 - home network
192.168.1.100
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1
eth0
192.168.0.100
255.255.255.0
<blank>
routing between interfaces enabled.
Also set DNS to either your router of 192.168.1.1 or public dns such as 8.8.8.8

The static route on your home router needs to direct the show network of 192.168.0.0 to the rpi at 192.168.1.100. so the GW on the route statement should be 192.168.1.100 not 192.168.1.1 as you described in in your drawing. something like :
route 192.168.0.0 mask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.1.100...
This will send the traffic for 192.168.0.<x> to the pi where it can send it to the show AP.
Now all your show controllers need to have an ip address on the .0 network like you mentioned but their gateways need to be the eth0 ip address of the ip like :
192.168.0.20
255.255.255.0
192.168.0.100
if you can set the dns on the remote controllers, set them to your home router or public dns just like you would for the pi.

you basically will have two networks routed by the pi in this setup.  If you need more help, you can swing by the xlights zoom room and the helpers can get you setup if needed.

What version of FPP?
Is this a fresh image? Or an upgrade?

Quote from: martoo@verizon.net on July 04, 2022, 09:53:01 AMHow do I get the "Initial Setup" menu..??
The Initial Setup isn't mandatory, it is just a shortcut to some of the more common configuration settings so that you don't have to go through multiple tabs.

Quote from: brmeadows on December 17, 2021, 04:33:42 PMWhere can I do a feature request for FPP?

One feature I would like to see is some indication of the data flowing through the FPPer.
Both ESPixelstick and Wled have this type of feature.
ESpixelStick firmware has a View Stream, WLED has a peek feature.

FPP has an even better feature actually if you are an xLights user.  If you are using xLights to generate your sequences, you can use the FPP's Virtual Display feature and have a live preview of the data.  Currently this only works for users using xLights in 2D mode, but I am working on a patch to allow it to be used with the 3D model layout from xLights.  Uploading your models from xLights using FPP Connect will also upload a config file which tells FPP the visual layout of all the pixels and FPP can use this to display a preview on either the HDMI output on a Pi or on a web browser page.  The web version works from a PC as well as mobile devices.  In order to get either working, you have to create a Virtual Display or HTTP Virtual Display channel output on the Channel Outputs page on the "Other" tab.

Ok, I created a HTTP VDisplay, how do I see the output? Is there a Http port that I should connect to?

Wow didn't know that feature was there. I have it setup now. I am using the Raspberry Pi FPP as headless. I have VNC as the display.

Thank you.

Designer Troubleshooting and Help / Re: Falcon player dynamic temp...

I have not seen any tempo related add-ons for FPP.  FPP does not analyze audio files nor does it generate lighting effects that I am aware of.  It merely schedules and plays sequences that have already been created by something else such as xlights.  FPP is geared around Christmas lighting and I rarely see DJ requests in this forum.  You might try asking this question in a DJ forum as well to see if they have any suggestions.

Quote from: tonyjara on July 02, 2022, 02:09:49 PMHi, I don't know if this has been asked before. I made a setup for a pub before and it went really well. The problem was that they were initially expecting dj's to also play with the lights from time to time, and of course that did not happen.

I want to make a setup so that the falcon player grabs tempo info straight from the audio feed, or maybe virtualdj can output that info? I'm a bit lost, has anyone done this before or can point me in the right direction?
I have seen FPP plugins that will play music/music streaming before and after the light show, but not aware of anything for FPP that would play a tempo to the lights.  I am sure someone will jump in and correct me if something is out there.
Do you know if there is a plugin that runs a global tempo on all sequences? The way I see it play in my head is that there would be like 10 sequences that rotate all night and they just react to what the dj is playing.

Show us a screenshot of this test page you are running

Quote from: martoo@verizon.net on July 02, 2022, 05:11:38 AMWhat have I done or missed in the setup??
This is usually due to the device not being properly configured for your network.

Quote from: martoo@verizon.net on July 02, 2022, 05:11:38 AM"pings" to the PI respond as expected.
Ping can work even if the device is not properly configured, that just means there is a device at that location, are you sure it is your FPP?

How about a description of your network and how everything is communicating along with your router's IP address and screenshots of your network settings?
Also, there is a far more comprehensible and current manual here:
