How to trouble shoot projector control

Trying to use the projector control plug in for the first time. I used the incorrect baud rate the first time and looking at the log it looks like something was returned after that change.  I am not sure how to trouble shoot this. I tries manually running the script and the projector does not turn on or off.

The script works to turn off the projector but will not turn it on.

I need to figure out a solution for next year will not be able to turn the projector on far a few days in December next year.

Is the projector off off? There would be no way to reach it if it is off off. What happens when you physically turn power on to the projector? Does it start in display mode or in standby or some other mode?

I will have to figure out a different way.  I assumed that the "ON" command would turn it on from the off state just like the power button does.
