intermittent issue with F8-PB - what logging would help diagnose

I have been using an F8-PB as a remote controller in my show for several years.  In the last 2 years, there have been regular issues where that control will start fine, the show will start, and then 5 minutes to an hour later, lights connected to that controller shut off.  The controller has power, but cannot be accessed on my network(wireless).

My player is running FPP (F16v3/PiB3+).  I have recently updated FPP on both player and remote systems to 6.0 (now 6.2).

My question is, what logging would be helpful to identify the what is happening?
Has anyone seen a USB Nano wifi adapter fail?

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for getting a signal (text/email) out when I lose connection?

Thanks,
Greg

The main cause of this is an essid that is being broadcast on both 2.4 and 5ghz bands or from multiple access points.   The Linux wifi drivers don't handle roaming very well and if it thinks the other band/access point would be better, it tries to roam and then fails to connect.     For the most part, make sure the essid that is being used for the show is only being broadcast from a single access point and on a single band.

Wow, thanks for that information.  I switched my wifi hardware Spring 2020 - that corresponds with the 2 years of issues.

So, I need to configure a network to be exclusively 2.4Ghz, and use that for my show/FPP devices.  That is as much a statement as it is a question; if anyone has any input or recommendations.

Thanks,
Greg
