Wifi set up with no wired connection

Hi, I had to upgrade from my old pi to a newer model to be able to support the new pi player software and bought two pi 3 A+'s with onboard wifi. I cannot figure out how to set these up without a wired connection first(they don't have an Ethernet port). Does anyone have any experience with this? Do I need to set the IP addresses through the console with a keyboard?
