Trying to update my F16v3 to fw v2.59. I've tried different microSD, but still won't do anything during the bootloader install. I've pushed the SD Card all the way down, as well as backed it off a little. Nothing works.  :'(

Downloaded F16V3_2_59.zip & placed F16V3_BootloaderUpdater_v1.00.fal on a FAT32 formatted microSD. (16GB & 8GB)

Any tips/tricks?

Mine was a pain in the *** when I did it before Christmas. I put the boot loader on one so card 32gb or less sd card. And the firmware on another. 32gb or less. It won't work with a larger sd card. Be sure to  follow the instructions on pixel controller.com exactly. Mine took multiple try's to get it to go. The same issue was on my F48. But it eventually went and all was good.

That is the wrong file if you are already running 2.56 (per your other thread).  You need the .fl2 file

Yeah I am following it exactly. Tried a 8GB & 16GB SD card. It is like I don't even put a card in there.

The instructions say to do the *.FAL file first.

  • Replacing bootloader. (These steps are only done once)
    1) Place BootloaderUpdater_v1.00.fal on a MicroSD card (32GB or Smaller, formatted Fat32).
    2) Place MicroSD card into controller and apply power.
    3) The application will be loaded and the screen will prompt to remove sd card and power down then up.
    4) Remove SD card.
    5) Power Down/up
    6) The application will replace bootloader.

Are you saying that since I am at 2.56, I do not need to run the Bootloader and I can go directly to Upgrading the Firmware?
  • Updating Firmware (These steps taken for each firmware update)
    1) Place .fl2 file MicroSd card
    2) Power Down/Up
    3) The firmware will install
    4) Remove card when finished and power down/up.
    5) Controller will boot

Correct - it is not super clear but that is only needed if you are coming from 2.0x versions.

Since you are having issues .. I would do the factory reset as well.

2) Power Down
3) Hold in select button (Next to right button).
4) Power up while holding button. The controller should display message stating a reset is occurring.

Then ...

Updating Firmware (These steps taken for each firmware update)
1) Place .fl2 file MicroSd card
2) Power Down/Up
3) The firmware will install
4) Remove card when finished and power down/up.
5) Controller will boot

Are you holding the select button down while powering back up with the bootloader as card inserted?

So you have to "hold the select button down" to install the Bootloader as well?

You don't need the bootloader, it's already been done since you are on 2.56

Just do this bit:
Updating Firmware (These steps taken for each firmware update)
1) Place .fl2 file MicroSd card
2) Power Down/Up
3) The firmware will install
4) Remove card when finished and power down/up.
5) Controller will boot
