Attempting to move to FPP 6.3 from 4.4 - Assigned IP is in different subnet.

Having issues moving to 6.3 FPP from 4.4.  Using Raspberry Pi image.  when I boot with the 6.3 image, no IP is assigned to eth0.  wlan0 does get assigned 192.168.8.1.  when I compare to bootup with 4.4 image, wlan0  is 192.168.0.98.  That one in reachable from the local network and I can bring up FPP.  On the 6.3 FFP bootup, the 192.168.8.1 is unreachable.

I am using a Cox Panoramic modem/router.  I think that router is forcing the Pi to bootup in the alternative subnet and it is not reachable.  Any suggestion / documentation on a solution would be greatly appreciated.

Make sure that your Pi's Ethernet port is plugged into your router during bootup.  Do you have a monitor hooked up to the Pi when booting it up?  Wlan0 is not getting that address from the router.  That is a default address FPP gives it when there are no other connections.  Until FPP is configured, it has no way to connect to your WIFI because it does not know the SSID or Password of your WIFI network.

Is this a fresh install or an upgrade. How are you determining that there is no IP assigned to eth0? If FPP is not connected to your network, it won't get an IP.

How are you comparing these IP addresses? Where are you looking to see them?

About the only way that will happen is if you manually configured your wlan0 settings. A new image will require you to manually enter your settings.

How are you trying to reach it? If you are simply entering that IP address in your browser, it won't work. you have to log into the FPP network first.

That is highly unlikely....

The FPP Manual has step by step instructions and here is a video on 5.5 but the process is almost identical except that on the initial set up page, you have to enter your choice if you want to set a UI password (not recommended to set one) and if you want to change the OS password (recommend to keep the default)

Here is a link to the Manual as well https://falconchristmas.github.io/FPP_Manual(6.0).pdf
