fpp-videoCapture, not working

Hi,

I'm trying to use a grid of pixels to display a live video feed. I have an F16v3 pixel controller and a Raspberry Pi with FPP installed, connected via Ethernet. Additionally, I will have another computer unit that will provide a visual stream to the FPP unit.

I am attempting to output from a separate unit into the FPP, using an HDMI to USB-A adapter wire. This ultimately doesn't work; there is just a black rectangle as the Image Preview in the Video Capture page of the FPP's user interface, and the video doesn't play as output; there is just an auto-played .fseq file being outputted to the pixels, even when the Default Capture State in the Video Capture page is set to "on". I also did click "Capture Frame" at the bottom of the Video Capture page.

Additionally, the HDMI source (in this case, my laptop) seems to recognize that it is outputting an HDMI signal, and in the FPP's UI, the option of "/dev/video0" comes up as a Video Device, just like Dan Kulp has it configured in the following video (About 26 minutes in):

Other plugins such as Matrix Tools seem to work fine with the F16v3, outputting to the pixels as expected.

Has anyone run into this -- probably very specific -- issue? I'm unsure if there's a step missing here! :/

The FPP Video Capture stuff is much different now with FPP 6.  It's all handled via overlay models and commands.   I would definitely suggest moving up to FPP 6.3 and the latest video capture plugin.   If that's not working, I'd be willing to help diagnose.  There's not point at all in attempting to debug issues on 4.x versions.

Hi, thank you so much!

Upon checking, that might just be the issue -- my current FPP version is 4.4. I'll try to install FPP 6.3, and see if that fixes it.

Really appreciate the help!!

Hi, thank you again!

Just as an update: it turns out that was the issue, and reinstalling the FPP with v6.3 enabled the videoCapture to work.

Appreciate the help!
