Smart Receiver Does not SHARE it TAKES

With an F16V3, the maximum number of pixels is 16,384.  With a single Smart Receiver, that is reduced to 10,912.  I actually bought 3 of them, but it seems using them actually reduces max pixels by about 5472.

With the smart receiver connected to ports 1-4 (1a, 2a, 3a, 4a), I do not have ports 1-4 available on the F16V3 anymore. When adding strings, the max number on any port is reduced to 682.  I understand that it "shares" the number of pixels, but when ports are reallocated to the Smart Receiver, they are no longer available on the F16V3.

Am I missing something in the configuration?  I really want to be able to have 1024 pixels per port, even if I have to sacrifice 4 ports to the Smart Receiver.

Late reply as I just joined the forum. I have been researching this also. What I found is the onboard connections do what you say. I got the differential controller add on board. These look like they add new ports and don't take away from the physical ports or reduce the pixel count.  But who knows till I see it in action.

Two things come to mind as I read the above posts:

1. Just because you can does not mean you should.

2. Do not put all your eggs in one basket.

How are you making this determination? Smart receivers do not reduce the total capacity of the controller.

Again, that isn't correct.

That is because you converted the ports to Smart remotes so you do have Ports 1-4, you just now have additional ports 1-4 (1A, 1B, 1C, 2A, 2B, 2C, etc) This is by design.

Isn't that what reallocation means?

I think you are missing something.

And Jim is right!
