Ok so I got the mini USB cable and plugged it in and I am getting the blue status lights to come on the BBB but still no conncection when I type 192.168.7.2 into the address bar on the web browser of my laptop.

I want to clarify something tho, should I be plugging the USB cable into the port just under the status lights? (that is a mini USB port, it is the one I am plugged into right now, other end of cable to my laptop USB port) Or should I be plugging into the port that is on the other side of the board right next to the mico sd card slot? (I believe that is a micro USB port? not 100% sure on that)

Rayster- I don't have one of those adapters, if this doesn't work out this way maybe I'll try one of those.

Also, where does one go to find the zoom room?

Thanks!

They came on, or are they flashing? Are you sure it is a data USB cable? With so many devices that can be charged by USB cables, there are a TON of Power only cables. It might be a bad cable too?

A Windows computer?

Yes

No, that is an HDMI slot.

I really wouldn't waste your time and money on that, you have everything you need.

xlightszoom.com and here is a video that will explain how it works

Since you were able to get into it via Wi-Fi tethering but just configured the Wi-Fi incorrectly (thus locking you out) you could probably fix it a lot quicker by just re-image the card and start over with the correct settings?

In my post #13, I made some assumptions and questions, can you verify that information?

So I'm not using a mesh system, I just have a single router for my home wifi.

And the network menu I was talking about was on the oled on the Kulp controller. I'll try to be more specific on things like that, I can see how that wasn't very clear on my part.

I was going to reflash the SD card and just start over and that's when I got reading up more on the FPP manual 5.5 about it all and came across a paragraph on page 18 that is highlighted and says if you have a subnet of 192.168.6.XXX 192.168.7.XXX or 192.168.8.XXX that you will have problems communicating. So, I think that might definitely be part of my issues, I can go in and change that to something else tho can't I? like maybe 192.168.9.XXX and doing that might help out? (in addition to reflashing the SD card and starting over with that too) I've watched a few youtube videos and it looks like you can open the CMD black window and change that subnet/ IP address. figured I'd see what y'all said here about that first before I tried it tho.

What Router are you using? Having a Home network on a 192.168.8.x network is very rare!

The OLED will usually indicate what interface it was confusing the way you posted it.

Quote from: Kyle007 on June 29, 2022, 01:13:31 PMif I go into the network menu this is what it shows:

IP: 192.168.8.251 (should this and wlan0 be the same?) No each interface needs its own unique  IP address
NM: 255.255.255.0
GW: 192.168.8.1
D1: 192.168.8.1  (if I type this into my address bar there is a pop up that says to sign in, it has a username and password entry, but I don't remember ever setting that up?) That is because this is the IP address of your Home Router
D2: 8.8.8.8
Did you try using 192.168.8.112?

Quote from: Kyle007 on June 29, 2022, 01:13:31 PMI was going to reflash the SD card and just start over.
That might be the quickest, but you really should be able to access it using the USB tether option unless you have a bad SD card image.

This is referring to your Home network, and yes, you can usually change that in your Router's settings (if you are not sure how to do that, then I would HIGHLY recommend going to the Zoom Room and get some help!), just make sure to update any devices that have statically assigned addresses.

Quote from: Kyle007 on June 29, 2022, 01:13:31 PMI've watched a few youtube videos and it looks like you can open the CMD black window and change that subnet/ IP address.
No, that is NOT correct.

Wise decision. I really think you should go to the Zoom room. It is really the BEST resource for help.

Figured I ought to post an update, so I finally got the USB tether method to work, I think maybe I wasn't waiting long enough for the controller to boot up completely before trying it. One time I booted it up and got distracted for a while before trying the USB tether and that time it worked. So I was able to go in and change up the network configuration settings and all that and I'm happy to report I can now access things through WiFi and the web browser on my computer! Now I suppose its time for me to focus my attention toward Xlights and figuring that all out... Thanks everyone for your help and input :)
