Have successfully installed FPP on my Pi with a RPi-28D+ cap.
Launched the FPP Player Setup (http://fpp) and configured setup with guide from the RPi-28D+ User Guide.
"pings" to the PI respond as expected.
Tried running a test from FPP app.  Test fails with following message:
"FPP Failed to save restartFlag setting"
???  What have I done or missed in the setup??

This is usually due to the device not being properly configured for your network.

Ping can work even if the device is not properly configured, that just means there is a device at that location, are you sure it is your FPP?

How about a description of your network and how everything is communicating along with your router's IP address and screenshots of your network settings?
Also, there is a far more comprehensible and current manual here:

If to err is human, I am more human than most people.
