So trying to get things setup up for the season and the F16v3 that normally runs our Mega Tree is not booting up. Look at the 3 LEDs I have no lights on any of them which leads me to think that it isn't getting power from v2 like it is supposed to be. The fan control seems to be running fine but I think that is a straight passthrough. And I have power to all 16 ports of led outputs, just no oled display, no network, and the attached pi can't find it.

---EDIT---
A little more info. This F16 has worked great for the last 3 christmases. This is the first time it has acted up. The power jumpers are set to 7-13V, and the input power is set as V2 and not external. I am trying to find a sacrificial wall wart to see if I get any different results using external. I have also tried holding down SEL while powering up the board with no change. Also unplugged the ribbon incase that was the issue.
---END---

---EDIT 2---
Just tried running a 5V external power supply with no change to being able to power up the board.
---END---

Any troubleshooting ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Richard

The OLEDs do go bad, but if you don't have power that is not a good sign.  Watch the polarity as is seems like the V1 and V2 ports are mirrored from each other. (pos/neg are reversed on one side)

I would pull all the phoenix connectors and the ribbon cable from the board.  Bad wiring could be shorting it out.  Pull everything but the power, and get a multi-meter on the power ports to confirm they are the voltage you are expecting.  Assuming you have checked the fuses.

So just unplugged everything and rebooted. Same result. If I log into the RasPi it gives me this error: Abnormal Conditions - May Cause Poor Performance Cannot Ping e1.31 Channel Data Target 192.168.3.11". Also confirmed that ground is on the outside for both v1 and v2. V1 power is at 11.9 and V2 power is at 12.1.

All the lights are on.  I have had a few OLEDs go bad, but both times I could still get to the web interface and it was a cosmetic issue only.  Webstore is out of stock on OLEDs.  I think this is the same part number https://www.amazon.com/SSD1306-Display-MELIFE-Module-Arduino/dp/B087CV2TNF?th=1  Not sure if you would get a message, with an OLED.

I have seen ethernet ports go bad, so you should try plugging it in the next port over to see if that does anything.  Afraid it is above my pay grade beyond that.

Ok Ordered replacement OLEDs. My bigger concern is that the PWR, LED1, and/or LED2 all stay off.

Just tested swapping the OLED with a known working one with no success. Will keep the order with Amazon just in case I need them in the future. Just a little stymied right now.

If someone else does not jump in, I would reach out to Falcon support before calling time of death.  David has been known to pull miracles out of his hat before.  Good Luck!

Are you able to check under the board? I've had issues with having something metallic get lodged under the board and causing problems. Can't hurt to take a look.

Just checked under the board with a bore scope and didn't see anything under it. Good call though.

Didn't realize there was actual support. Figured the forum was everything. I'll reach out directly to David as well as continue to watch this thread.

Think this is the only support for FPP, but Falcon controllers has a support page.  He gets pretty busy this time of year, but he might get back to you.

rjhodgefamily

Yeah 95% of our show has been running on FPP and PiCaps for years so that is probably why I have always come here first.

Did you ever get a fix for this? I have two in a similar state.

rjhodgefamily

Turns out one of the neighbors opened the case while it was raining and something shorted on it. So needs to be replaced.
