I would like to Daisy Chain 2 smart Diferencial receiver boards together off the same Port (1-4)
The first board works but the second one does not respond to test patterns from the F48.

F48 Differencial Controller V2.59

Smart Receiver v2.01 (Blue PCB)

I have added Sub ports in the F48 b clicking the blue plus icon 1a,2a,3a,4a,1b,2b,3b,4b

I have made sure the Channel alocations do not overlap. The Smart receiver's test mode works fine.

I have transposed the addresses and either board works if it is set to the first addess.

I have tried address wheel position 1,2 and A,B and 4,5 for the respective smart receivers with no luck.

Has anyone had scucess with this combination? I cant see what I am doing wrong.

Smart Receiver DIP switches all set correctly?

Could you have not disabled termination on the first smart receiver (SR)?

When connecting to older white controllers, you need to set the blue 2.01 smart receivers address wheel to 1 and 2, and make sure termination is set to off on the first SR.  Termination absorbs the remaining energy in the wire to keep it from reflecting backwards, so anything behind a terminated SR will not get any data.  Only the last device in the chain should be terminated.

Thanks JonD and rudybuddy,

Yes the termination is off for the first receiver and on for the second,

Presently my address wheel is 1 for the first receiver and 2 for the second. (I have tried other combinations)

I do have 150 pixels on each smart receiver output could this be a factor?

Also which one is the newest smart receiver design? is it the White PCB or the Blue PCB?

rudybuddy

Does the Smart Receiver test function work?  Have you tried using different ethernet cables?

Starry

Yes the test function of the Smart receiver works localy and the cat5 module and cable work if plugged into different F48 port.

Thanks for your help with fault finding my problem.

Great.  SR1 Set at 1 (term off)  SR2 Set at 2 (Term on).  That is where it needs to be.

150 pixels is not an issue.  Do it all the time on the v3 series.

The blue 2.01 is the newest version for the v4 line, but it is backwards compatible with the older white v3 controllers. (using the 1 and 2 address)

A bad ethernet cable could cause this.  Assuming you have swapped cables.  Nothing stood out on the output port screenshot.  I configure things differently, so someone else may notice something I did not.  Can you include a Falcon E1.31 configuration page, and the xlights settings for the the last light that works, and the first one that does not?

Starry

Tonight I have rebuilt a simpler example and captured some screenshots.

Also I would like to note that on all strings the first pixel seems to show red in normal mode. (and cycle colours as expected in Receiver test mode)

Terminations and address wheels are as previously mentioned.

JonD

It looks to me like you are using absolute channels in xlights and universes on the falcon controllers.  From your xlights controller tab, can you attach a print screen of your xlights controller settings?

You might want to consider jumping in the zoom room for this one.  I still use E131, but that it is probably not ideal for you.  Xlights can automatically configure your controllers which is something to consider.  If you go to xlights main menu, select help, zoom, it will take you to the room.
