Apologies if this is answered elsewhere here, but I've searched and couldn't find anything definitive even on some posts going back several years.

Running WLED on an ESP32 with a microphone, the WLED sound reactive effects can react to audio input in real time.  My goal is to have the ability to do that (at times), but also to be able to run pre-programmed sequences too (normally I would use FPP for that) across the same (over 30) pixels from one controller setup.

I can see that the WLED effects can be accessed (run) from the overlay model effect command (and even in a basic wrapper via a plugin) from FPP, but I can find nothing on the ability to utilize the sound reactive capabilities in real time.  The idea would be to be able to play any music live and have lights "react" to the audio in addition to running the more precisely choreographed effects in shows on command.

So the questions I'm trying to answer are:
   1.  Using FPP, is there a way select sound reactive effects and have them "react" in real time to audio from a direct in and/or a microphone?
   2.  If so, is there a way to do the same thing with different effects (and settings) set for different models/groups at the same time?
   3.  If so, what would be needed?  (Would a K32 with BBB and mic work?  Any setting tweaks?  Other?)

Did you make any progress on this?

FPP 7 has the ability to play sound reactive WLED effects
If to err is human, I am more human than most people.

Kind of...  It's sound reactive to audio files played from player mode.   It doesn't use sound from a microphone or line in yet.

I am trying to figure out how this works. My understanding is this:
  • I load a mp3 or other audio file.
  • I set an overlay model effect with a WLED sound reactive effect, and run it.
  • I play something with audio in the FPP player.
  • and then the models running the sound reactive effect should react to the audio

My results are that the models just display what ever color 1 is but solid, no reaction.  Is there something else to the setup?

I too am trying to get this to work, I tried creating a playlist with the overlay model effect and best i could tell, it was just cycling through colors and not actually doing the sound reactive aspect.
