On Friday January 21st the development team met to discuss the roadmap for FPP v6.0. We are all in agreement that the focus this year will be stability and we've identified some key functionality that we'll try to focus on for the 6.0 release. We also hope to launch a new website similar to xlights.org, that provides links to relevant information for the Falcon Player community.

Note:
As we begin the process of integrating the new Bullseye operating system, it is highly likely that the master branch won't be stable and may have problems even connecting to some networks. It is strongly recommended that anybody using fpp for any real show continue to leverage the 5.x branches until the team has been able to stabilize the configuration.
Thank you for your continued support and we are looking forward to bringing you FPP v6.0.

Pat, thank you for the update!

As normal, my P5 and P10 matrix displays are available for testing throughout the year - hanging from the ceiling in my family room.  I don't leave them powered, but do so somewhat regularly for Master branch updates - or whenever there is a request to test something.  For all practical purposes, I use those two installations only in bridge mode from LOR (something that not many people can test during the off season).  Both are running PocketBeagles with PocketScrollers, and I just updated both to v5.x-master-661-g79ffaa62 (master branch)

Looking forward to FPP version 6...
Using LOR (mostly SuperStar) for all sequencing - using FPP only to drive P5 and P10 panels.

Pat and team, I know you have a great test bench but I too have several controllers and a fairly well stocked lab to test with if needed.  I am running the 6.x master on several devices at this time but no real test plans currently running.  Available when needed, Thanks to the entire team for all the effort!

Official FPP folks.... @Materdaddy, @CaptainMurdoch, @dkulp

Any objections if we were to add FPP tp the list of OSs in RPiImager? This will make the process to set it a new PI so much easier - especially with the new pi based ctrls. I can put a request if no objections.

"We are happy to add distributions of OSes if we think they will be used and they are suitably supported / updated. Please file an issue describing your OS and a link to your custom repository file if you would like to get included. Note that this is not necessarily needed, as you can always run the `rpi-imager` directly with your custom repository!"

This is something we could probably look into when we release FPP v6.0.  We are already testing alpha versions of the SD image based on Bullseye and are working towards a release by early summer.

I need to work with you guys this year to get my hardware working properly.  I understand few, if any, users will find my requirements necessary, but on the other hand, none of my requirements are beyond the ordinary.  Attached is a picture of my main host.  As you can see, it includes a battery backup, fans, and a number of sensors.  I need to monitor these sensors, and I use Python scripts to do so.  These scripts monitor battery and power voltages and temperatures, and send emails if power is lost or restored.  Last year, when I tried to add in the necessary libraries, at some point, FPP quit working.  I never could get all the sensors working.

As you are getting closer to release V6, I'm hoping that you still plan to add it to the rpiimager.
As weird as it sounds, rpiimager will also image a BB image, altough the wifi info will not work (open item), so hopething that too will be available.

Happy to help test, especially the BB setup so new users can get the controller setup more easily.

We are hoping to get the first 6.0 version out in the next couple weeks.

I don't think we have any issues with adding FPP to the RPi imager list.  Do you have any links to pages listing requirements to be added to the list?

Thanks, that's what we needed.  I opened a ticket with a few links to your post here and some other examples of submission requests.

https://github.com/FalconChristmas/fpp/issues/1308

Once we have an official FPP v6 image, we can get the JSON file created and open a ticket in the rpi-imager github.

This afternoon I pulled out my new Pi4, loaded FPP 5.5 image onto a 32G chip and booted it for the first time.
without changing anything on the Pi, I decided to upgrade and test Beta 6.
The upgrade went very well with the Pi connected to my home network (hard line).
Next I seen the Green box showing an Upgrade FPP.
When I pushed the button it Failed!
You cannot view this attachment.

Doing the Health Check it appears FPP 6 thinks the Pi is not on the internet.

I pulled up SSH, logged in and Pinged google.com
It works....

Next I went to FPP Settings and then Time Config.
Pressed the button for Lookup Time Zone.... It worked.

I am lost to why the FPP 6 does not think its on the internet and why the Update Failed.
I am including the logs....

Do another "update" to the FPP6 fppos even though you already did it.  There is a bug in the upgrade in 5.5 that prevents the upgrade from fully working correctly.  It's fixed in 5.5-24 so if you would have updated to the latest on 5.5 first and THEN do the fppos, it should be fine, but upgrading directly from 5.5 has problems.   By doing the upgrade a second time, it fixes itself.

Thank you, the second run did fix the issue...
BTW: When the 2nd update finished the window shows Rebooting. Please close the window and refresh the screen.
There is No Button to close the window... Refreshing the screen did work.
