Discontinued P10 1/2 Scan Panel Issues

Does anyone have any experience using these discontinued panels from HolidayCoro: https://www.holidaycoro.com/product-p/1441.htm - I'm trying to set them up on my BBB and OctoPlus (4w x 6h) but no matter how I configure the settings in FFP, I can't make the matrix images appear clean, not even text - it seems blurry. The test pattern when run from FPP does not display correctly either.
I reached out to HolidayCoro and was told the following:
I'm sorry but we don't have knowledge on how to use these panels with FPP as they purchased for a custom controller.
I'd recommend posting to the FPP group on facebook as this will be the most experienced group.
 
Should they work if I use a Color Light controller? This is my first rodeo attempting to build this matrix so any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

A ColorLight controller has many more setup options, so it "should" work if you are persistent trying settings.
